Cheryl Tweedy was born in England in 1983, one of 5 children in a Catholic
family. Tweedy’s mother, Joan Callaghan, often entered Cheryl and
her brother Garry in modeling contests for children. By age 6, Cheryl had
won several competitions and appeared in British commercials, including
one with her brother.

Biography :
She was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Throughout her childhood
she performed as a dancer in recitals and on some T.V. shows. She entered
ballroom competitions, sang, modeled a little, and won a ballet competition.
She won the following competitions as a child: Boots bonniest baby,
Mother care Happy Faces Portrait competition, Best Looking Girl of
Newcastle, The Evening Chronicle 'Little Miss & Mister' and Most
Attractive Girl at the MetroCentre. |
She appeared in two British Gas adverts, an SCS advert, and
an Eldon Square Christmas advert with younger brother Garry. In addition
to Garry, Cole has another 2 brothers, Andrew and Joseph and a sister Gillian.
Cole was also signed to a management in Newcastle before Girls Aloud alongside
other acts such as 3NM and Xscape
The songstress became familiar with the spotlight at an early
age, as she modeled and participated in fashion shows throughout her childhood.
In 2002, she won a TV talent show and became part of Girls Aloud. A 2003
nightclub fight temporarily bruised her reputation, but she has since recovered.

Cole was working as a waitress when she entered the UK talent-search show Popstars:
The Rivals. In the final show she received the most votes in the poll which chose
the girls for the all-female group Girls Aloud, and was the first to be picked
